Mayor Jim Brainard today filed his official declaration of candidacy for re-election as mayor of Carmel in the upcoming Republican Primary. Brainard, who was first elected mayor in 1995, filed this afternoon at the Hamilton County Clerk’s office.
“I am looking forward to the campaign ahead. As a result of our focus on strong fiscal management, most of our homeowners are paying less in residential property taxes today than they paid in 1995. We are meeting our promises to the new areas of our city, and many of the city’s major projects such as the Keystone Parkway and the Center for the Performing Arts are nearly complete,” said the mayor.
Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard will deliver his 15th annual State of the City Address since becoming mayor in 1996 at the Carmel Chamber luncheon. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 14, from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Ritz Charles, 12156 N. Meridian St. Last year’s event was attended by more than 400 Chamber members, business leaders and guests. City of Carmel departments will be on hand before and after the address with information about their respective activities.
