Preparation for CarmelFest 2011 is underway -- this year’s festival theme is “Proud to be an American.” Mark your calendar now for Sunday and Monday, July 3 - 4, to join our community in celebrating Independence Day at one of the best festivals in Indiana. The CarmelFest parade will take place on Monday, July 4 beginning at 10:30 a.m.
According the CarmelFest chairman Gary Frey, “The planning committee is dedicated to making the 2011 event better than ever with exciting new additions and an expanded KidZone.”
“The Wright Brothers collection of patriotic ballads makes them a perfect fit for this year’s Parade theme - 'Proud to be an American.' The theme is more than just a collection of words; it reflects our country’s way of life in celebrating Independence Day and honors American heroes that have sacrificed so much for our freedom,” said Peggy Powell, parade director.
Peggy along with her co-chair Bec Hunter and a team of dedicated volunteers, work for months behind the scenes planning the Independence Day procession. The Parade has always been a highlight for the CarmelFest celebration and a special event for the whole community. As Peggy happily admitted, “It’s a thrill for all of us on the parade committee to see the results of our efforts come alive on July 4th.”
Applications for parade entries are being accepted now thru the CarmelFest web site at www.carmelfest.net. For event details visit www.CarmelFest.net and follow us on Facebook.
