On Monday - July 5, 2010Â at 10:30 a.m., two commemorative planes will fly over Carmel to kick-off the St. Vincent Heart Center Independence Day Parade at CarmelFest. The plane models PT26 & L-2 are the part of the Commemorative Air Force, an organization dedicated to preserving aircraft used during World War II.
The planes are reminiscent of crafts out of a Hollywood World War II feature with sprawling wing spans and vibrant colors. The 30-minute fly-over will provide on-lookers with and great view of the aircraft.Â
According to Parade Chairperson, Peggy Powell, "The Commemorative Plane fly-over will instill a sense of pride and remind us of the heroes who serve in the armed forces.â€Â
The PT26 will be flown by Dennis Schell and the L-2 will be flown by Mark Owens at a planned altitude of 500 feet.  The plane’s flight path will run northwest from 116th & Keystone, then north on the east side of Range Line to Main, then south on the west side of Range Line.Â
The St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana Parade at CarmelFest will begin at 10:30 a.m. on July 5, 2010Â stepping off from Carmel Drive and AAA Way, traveling west on to Range Line Road and north to Main Street, ending at Carmel High School.
